In Case You Missed It

Our presentation on Monday was given by Diane Campbell and Alisha Eggers both of Muscatine Community Schools.  Diane shared information on United Way Let's Talk Culture of Poverty Affinity and how the group is trying to engage youth to activities that build self confidence.  One of the opportunities to work with youth this summer is at the Summer Lunch Program.  Alisha Eggers, is the Food Service Supervisor for the school district and shared information on the Summer Lunch Program that is being offered throughout Muscatine from June 15-July 31st.  This program offers free meals for children between 2-18 years of age; meals for adults are available for a small fee.  This year breakfast will be offered at certain locations.  In order to draw more youth to the meal sites 9 different agencies/groups will be providing activities at the sites throughout the summer.  Small items are needed such as books, pencils, rulers, etc.  If you are interested in learning more or how to give supplies please call 263-6141.
