·          Sarah Trokey - guest of James Elliott - Sarah is the new Administrator at Sunnybrook and just happens to be the future daughter-in-law of Scott Ingstad.

June 12 Announcements -

Caren Luke  gave the invocation and Marilyn Smith  was the song leader.

Tom Ward, 2010-2011 president, gave information regarding Rotary International during his information moments.  Tom also thanked Mary Wildermuth for her service as 2009-2010 president.

Some of the major accomplishments during Mary's term included  links with YPN and Leadership Muscatine, 13 new members inducted, regular Wine Nutz Socials, Guest night at the Symphony, New web site, email communications and updates, Pack the Park, completion of the Bridge Tribute, Pennies For Peace, 20 persons were recognized for contributions to the Rotary Foundation including the special recognition honoring Pam Ramer sponsored by John Stevens.  Tom also presented Mary her Past-President's pin.

Mary noted  goals Tom proposes for the 2010-2011 new year to include increases in  membership, continue club project and communication, 2 international projects and new community projects.   Tom was presented his President's pin.

All were encouraged to make sure they were included on the Committee Listing for the new  year.  If you were not present at this meeting, please be sure to contact Tom Ward with your preference.

Word was received that Shirley Jean Drake has fallen and broken her nose.   Cards for Shirley can be sent to 420 Parkington Drive, Muscatine, IA 52761.

Tom announced that Randy Ludke was resigning as Treasurer and Tom Lambert has decided his many years as auditor have been lots of fun,  however he is ready for a break.  Randy was thanked for his many, many years of service to the club.  If anyone is interested in being Treasurer of our club, they would receive a stipend, meals, and dues.  This person or persons could also be a non Rotary member.

The Youth Exchange Committee will meet today. 

Program

Bret Olson introduced Jason Miller who is the Special Olympics Director for the Muscatine area.  Jason has taken over this position after his father, Ron.  Jason's first comments were honoring his mother, Deanne for all of her years of service.

World Athlete, Cory Leonhard told of his many adventures in the local and world competitions.  Cory has been to Dublin Ireland, China, and is anticipating games in Athens Greece.  He is also active in a coaching capacity.  The Special Olympics is sponsored by the Muscatine Y and serves hundreds of athletes from ages 8 to 72.   This organization runs strictly on donations.  Corey gave an impressive presentation and we could all tell that the program has been a great experience for him.

Happy News

Bill Trent contributed $1 for Bret Olson because he didn't think Bret would contribute. 

Jim Stein announced number six (6) grandchild.  A little girl weighing  in around 10 lbs.

Bret Olson later gave his dollar since the Y was named in introductions.
