In Case You Missed It

Last week's presenter was Wallace Loh, Executive Vice President and Provost of the University of Iowa.  Wallace joined the University of Iowa on August 1, 2008.  Although he has only been at the U of I for a short time, Wallace said he has been active and learning a lot about the University and its students.  Wallace said that the University is focused on three fundamental values; academic excellence, service, and diversification/globalization.  The University has created 50 new community service courses in the last few years.  Through student involvement in these courses over 28,000 hours of community service has been generated.  Wallace also stressed the importance of the University creating opportunities for more students to study aboard.  Wallace is committed to maintaining the high level of excellence in research and education that the University of Iowa is known for.

November 24th Club Announcements

·          Rich Dwyer gave an update on the Rotary Foundation. 

·          Sarah Lande announced there will be a Community Projects Committee meeting on Monday, December 5th at 11:15 a.m.  

Happy News

  • Scott Ingstad was happy to see the Hawks win and is excited to see the Red Kettle Campaign kickoff.
  • Carlin Lawhead was happy to see the Hawkeyes beat the Gophers.
  • Jim Stein is glad the Cyclone Football season is over-congrats to the Hawkeyes.
  • DeWayne Hopkins is excited to kick off Freezing for Food on December 1.  The Hawk truck will be in the Hy-Vee parking lot beginning on Monday.  Please drop off your donations!
