In Case You Missed It

Our presentation on Monday was given by Nick Gow about the Young Professionals Network of Muscatine.  YPN is a subcommittee of GMCCI and was started in 2005.  YPN is a foundation for individuals to build relationships with like minded individuals in Muscatine, with the hopes of retaining young professionals in our community.  YPN has monthly social gatherings on the third Thursday of each month.  YPN is directed by a seven member leadership council that focuses on social, community, professional development, membership, and public relation activities.  YPN is supported by local businesses in Muscatine.  To date, YPN has over 400 members in their network.  To learn more about YPN or how your business can support this effort visit www.ypnmuscatine.org

  • Randy Ludke gave a presentation on the Rotary budget for this year.  This year we are some what limited on our activities based on the funding that we have.  We will be honoring and completing our commitment to the Bridge Tribute Project.  For more information about this year's budget please speak to Randy or Mary.
  • Please keep Norm and Marilyn Smith in your thoughts and prayers as he seeks treatment for cancer.  We are all thinking of you!
  • August 17th is Rotary Night at Modern Woodman Park.  Please come at 7 p.m. to help raise funds for Polio Plus and enjoy a night at the ballpark.  Keith Porter reminded us about Bandit Bucks for sale for only $1.00, half of that goes directly to Polio Plus.  Keith also encouraged all of us to support Mary throwing out the first pitch at the game.  Keith challenged our club to donate $1.00 if Mary makes it across the plate!  Come on Mary hit the mit!
  • Don't forget to about the partnership with the Muscatine Lions and Rotary to provide entertainment and a fundraising opportunity.  "Branson on the Road" will be in concert on Sunday, August 30th at 3 p.m. at Central Middle School Auditorium.  All proceeds from this concert will be used for community projects.  If Rotary sells 100 tickets we will receive 10% of the proceeds for our last portion of our commitment to the Bridge Tribute Project.  Tickets will be available at Rotary for multiple weeks.
  • Craig Bode needs you! Craig is the new chair for programs and he is looking for monthly program chairs, if you are interested please see him at the meeting or email him at craig.bode@rockvalleypt.com.
