In Case You Missed It

Last weeks program was Faces of Rescue presented by Sharon Gibson Ellis.  Sharon provided information on what animal rescue is and how you can get involved in helping save animals.  Sharon shared stories from her personal experiences with rescuing animals.  Currently, Sharon has over 30 animals that she and her husband have rescued.  These animals include dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats and one pot belly pig!  To find out more information about animal rescue or if you know of an animal that needs help, please give Sharon a call.

September 8th Club Announcements

  • District 6000 is seeking four outstanding young professionals, ages 25-40, to be part of a Group Study Exchange team to Taiwan from March 1, 2009 to March 29, 2009.  The purpose of the GSE is to promote international understanding and goodwill through person-to-person contact.  Participants must be employed full-time in a recognized business or profession and live or be employed in District 6000 territory.  If interested applications are available at www.rotary6000.org .  Applications must be endorsed by the sponsoring club and submitted to the selection committee by October 2, 2008.
  • New Member-Please welcome new member Judi Holdorf, Executive Director of Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine.  Judi is sponsored by Gary Carlson.  Judi was previously a member of the North Scott Rotary Club.
  • New Member -Please welcome new member Brook Mahaffey, Director of American Red Cross, Muscatine-Louisa Unit.  Judi is sponsored by Lynn Schultz.
  • Tim Nelson invited all Rotarians to attend the Muscatine Rotary Picnic on September 16th at Weed Park.  If you and your family are planning on attending please email or call Tim.
  • Carlin Lawhead reminded us to place our bets on who would win Iowa or Iowa State. 
  • Bill Trent-encouraged Rotarians to vote on September 10th for the School Board elections.
