LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM:
Bruce Carter, airport manager came to town to give us an update on what's happening at MLI - the Quad Cities International Airport.
It's largely good news. Boardings are up. Numbers of flights are up. Destinations are up. Investment in the physical plant is up. Gift shop sales and car rentals are up. Plans are afoot for runway changes that will enhance safety. Parking will be increased and the car rental facilities will be improved.
Unfortunately, you still have to fly when you travel.
So you'll still be frisked, x-rayed, humiliated and de-humanized.
You will also get to wait for hours for planes to come and go. You will have to take your chances that you will ever see your baggage again. And you will have to deal with the airline companies.
But the airport is gorgeous.
