Tony Joseph acting as President announced that Judi Holdorf will join the Board as an incoming Director!!  Mike Ruby announced that he and Steve Jameson will be hosting the Australia Friendship Exchange for our club.  We will join three other District 6000 clubs in welcoming the group from September 12-28.  The 3.0 Senior Committee needs your help with items for the Senior Bags. The luncheon will be on April 22. They need your items by the 19th of April.  Mike Hagerty invited us all to the Tech Night at 5:30 Tuesday Evening.  Melanie Alexander introduced Arthur Wang noting that his exhibit is now open at the Muscatine Art Center...Other Side of the Earth. A public reception is being held from 4:30-6:00 P.M. tonight (March 18) and you are invited.

Program: Tim Nelson reminded us of the trip to the Palms Movie Theatre planned for our meeting next week.  He then introduced our featured speaker, Paul Mayes.  Paul is retired from Muscatine Community College, however, he is still very active and loves to share his knowledge of the local area.  Paul presented an informative program on the various bugs found in the Mississippi River and in other local water bodies.  He shared various slides of mayflys, or fishflies, lake flies, or the river fly and told us that they are great organism indicators of our water quality. In fact they have been studied since the early 1900's. Our water quality is good.

Muscatine County has the most species of Dragon flies of any county in Iowa!! He reminded us that these bugs are attracted to light.  He also mentioned that fish lures imitate bugs, fish etc.  He shared his wealth of these local bugs in an informative and knowledgeable manner.
