Happy News: Steve Jameson read a letter from Cara Hahn who is our Rotary Exchange Student to Belgium.  Keith Porter is happy that his daughter Hanna is home and with him here today!! He is also happy that he has completed his Rotary incoming President Training.  Tony Joseph is very happy that the 100,000 Strong signing with the Chinese last week was a great success!! He is also a happy Dad... his son, Wayne has for the 3rd year competed in the Federated Music Teachers Competition and has received a Superior Rating for the 3rd year!!  Bob Allbee is very pleased that the 100,000 signing with the Chinese will enable many Muscatine students and teachers to go to China!! Hoppi Hopkins is very thankful that the Muscatine Journal had such a great editorial about the "Good Things Happening in Muscatine"  like the Glass Aramdillo Project and yes the 100,000 signing with the Chinese last week. Bill Decker is also happy that the 100,000 signing was a success!!  He is also proud of the Muskies and their Girls State Basketball performance!!

Program: Mike Hagerty introduced the program on Mad Creek Improvements by the Corp of Engineers with Mie Zakowski and Allen Marshall.  The Corp of Engineers does many things beyond completing the Mad Creek Flood Protection project.  The Corp is involved in overseeing 78,000 square miles with a staff of 850 employees.  The Corp oversees flood risk managment, recreational sites (over 65 with over 1700 visitors and revenue of $2 million) emergency management, including providing water and ice to emergency sites and environmental care.  The Mad Creek project was broken into two phases and includes 3 closure structures including 2nd, 5th and Mulberry.  The project also provided flood protection for downtown and for HNI.
