In Case You Missed It

Our presentation on Monday was given by Incoming President Mary Wildermuth led us in a club planning exercise.  Mary talked about the new moto "The Future of Rotary is in your Hands", and challenged us with club interaction answering the following questions:

1.      Who introduced you to Rotary?

2.      What would you identify as the strengths of our Rotary club..what are we really good at?

3.      What would you identify as areas that our Rotary Club..could improve upon?

4.      What topics would you like considered for programs for this coming year?

5.      What strategies should we consider in reaching out and recruiting new members?

6.      I just want to include this thought or I need to say this...

 

June 1st Club Announcements

  • Ann Moody has elected to resign as Club secretary effective the end of
    this Rotary year.  Therefore, we are seeking nominations for this
    position.  Qualified candidates must attend weekly meetings and one
    monthly board meeting, possess excellent communication and computer
    skills, and work closely with the board and District to maintain accurate
    and timely records using various Rotary software. Will assist with other
    duties as assigned.  If you or someone you know of would be interested in filling this position beginning the first week in July, please e-mail me or see one of the board
    members.
  • Join Rotary on the first and third Tuesday's of every month at 7:30 a.m. at Snackers for make-up meetings.  All are welcome to attend, even if you do not need a make-up! 
  • Mary Wildermuth invited all Rotarians to attend a going away party for Tom Williams on June 11th from 4-6 p.m. at DistrictAdministrationCenter, 2900 Mulberry Ave.  All are welcome to attend!
  • August 17th is Rotary Night at ModernWoodmanPark.  Please come at 7 p.m. to help raise funds for Polio Plus and enjoy a night at the ballpark.  See Karen for more information.
  • Please keep Shirley Drake in your thoughts and prayers this week.  

Happy News

·          Paul Stamler is happy he was able to go to Japan for Son's promotion as a Colonel.

·          Barb Christensen is happy to be announcing the Whine Whiskers and Paws event Saturday, June 6.

·          Sharon Gibson-Ellis is happy to announce a Project Aware event that will help clean up the Cedar River.  Rotary provided $3,000 in funding.  For more information go to www.iowaprojectaware.com .

·          Melanie Alexander is happy to announce it is time for the yearly Awards.  Please send your information to Melanie ASAP. 

·          Tara Prosek - is happy to tell about the Muscatine Charities golf outing, dinner, and silent auction June 25.  Go to www.muscatinecharities.org for more information.

·          John Schwandke is happy to be home in Muscatine from Mexico and Darlene got another clean bill of health.  9 years cancer free  

·          Tom Williams is happy his daughter has a job at HON.  This means she is moving to town as he will be moving out of town.

June  29:  Christy Roby-Williams, Muscatine Regional Empowerment,  will speak on collaboration efforts involving early care, education, health and human services on behalf of children and families residing in the area.
