December 12, 2011 Program for Today: United Way of Muscatine with Rose Mary Boesen

Guests December 5: MHS Octet - Nick Oswald, Natalie Filmore, Rachel Lo Bianco, Laurelin Haas, Rachel Hohneke, Derek Johnson, Hasan Pasha, Patrick Miller, MHS Counselor Joni Anderson and Halliegh McConnaha.

Tom Ward in the Rotary Moment reminded us of the MHS Interact Club. It was started 6 years ago and currently has 10 student members. Dan Ramos is the teacher sponsor. Projects they are involved in include supporting the District 6000 Xicotepec Orphanage through the Interact Talent Show.

President Mike Ruby reminded us to meet the Polio Plus and Salvation Army $1000 Challenge made by an anonymous Rotarian. Leave your contributions at the back table.

New Member Orientation will be held this Friday, December 9, at Sunnybrook from 11:30 - 1:00 PM.

  • Barb Christensen was happy that Sunday with Santa was a huge success with over 400 participants and a special thank you to the banks for their support of the event.
  • Jessica Wittman was grateful for her reacquaintance with Nick Oswald today at Rotary.
  • Ron Yohe celebrated his 50 High School Reunion.
  • Kip Fisher happy that ISU trounced Kansas State.
  • Marv Krieger was proud to see our community support Toy Time.
  • Jim Nepple announced that Nepple PLC Law Offices is listed in the U.S. News Outstanding Law Firms.
  • Karen Diercks is glad that the Christmas Stroll was successful and now is over!!!
  • Rick Ray is grateful that over 800 pounds of food was collected at the Christmas Symphony Concert!!
  • Sarah Lande is pleased with the Community Foundation's Holiday Event at Pearl Plaza was a great one.
  • Tim Nelson encouraged us to Ring those Bells for the Red Kettle Campaign!!
  • Diana Gradert is happy she has her Christmas Tree up ...early and is happy the Community Foundation Event was successful.
  • Mary Wildermuth was happy that the Muscatine History and Industry Center greeted over 1000 visitors at the Christmas Stroll.
  • Mike Ruby had his lights up by November 10th!!

Program for Today: Muscatine High School Octet lead by Nick Oswald delighted us with a splendid medley of Christmas music.
