Invocation: Mike Fry
Happy News Greg Jenkins - Asked for volunteers to be block captions for the 4th of July Parade.   Vicki Kaufmann planted 13 trees with her family!  Way to go!!  Don Timmerman announced that he has graduated with his Masters of Theology.  Congratulations Don.  Megan Francis -  Thanked Melanie Alexander for helping to make/create a flier.  She announced that Charla Schafer is at the top of the leader board for Wii bowling at Sunnybrook.  Megan's daughter was crowned "Little Miss Muscatine" !!  Mike Hagerty - reminded us of the Kids first fundraiser at Contrary Brewery.  He also announced the birth of his 5th grandchild and that his son David is engaged. 
 
Visitors:  Tom Mergen was a visitor of Kim Warren.  Tom works at Stanly Consulting.  Kelly Rushford was a visitor of Judi Holdorf.  Kelly works at Community Foundation with Judi.  Ian Morgan and Callie Kurriger were visitors and Rotary Scholarship recipients.  Ian Morgan's grandmother, Kathy Morgan, was also a visitor.  Callie Kurriger's parents, Mike and Jane Kurriger, were visitors as well.
 
Program:  Naomi DeWinter announced that 5 Rotary scholarships were given out this year, $1000 each.  2 recipients were able to be at the meeting today - Ian Morgan and Callie Kurriger.  The other 3 recipients were at their college orientations today - Whitney Woepking, Samara Perkins, and Julie Soh.  This year students submitted their applications online.  There were over 120 applications.  Thank you to the following Rotary members who read all the applications and chose our recipients:  Scott Ingstad, Dawn Sturms-Dodds, Melanie Alexander, Harvey Allbee, Mike Hagerty, Kevin Mathis, and Marv Krieger.    Scott Ingstad read a bio about each recipient.  Callie Kurriger plans to attend MCC for her first 2 years and then transfer to Colorado State to pursue a degree in Environmental Science.  She would like to be a Wildlife Rehabilitator.  In school she was active in track, volleyball, multiple music programs, cheerleading and has numerous honors.  Ian Morgan plans to go to Midwest Technical Institute to pursue a career in welding and pipe fitting.  In  school Ian was active in soccer, tech based work and also interned as a welder at Musco.  He would like to make a chassis for a race car from scratch.  Whitney Woepking plans to attend University of Iowa to major in Bio Engineering.  She would like to become a physician or a prosthetist.  In school, Whitney was active in swim, track, student council, national honor society.  Samara Perkins plans to attend Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN.  She plans to major in Elementary Education to become a teacher.  In school Samara was active in swim, track, student council and national honor society.  Julie Soh plans to attend the University of Iowa and major in Marketing and masters in Business Administration. In school she was active in the drama club, theatre, key club.  She volunteered at MCSA, Park and Rec, and the Library.  She earned her Silvercord - 160 hours of volunteer service.  And at her previous school, Julie as the MVP of her fencing club.  Good Luck to all of you.
