THE BIG STORY: Dale Lucht presented a check for $5,000 to Mayor O'Brien to help replace the trees in Kent-Stein Park.
BIG STORY #2: Scott Natvig introduced the girls' softball team and girls' soccer team. These girls have brought fame and pride to Muscatine sports fans. Our club was happy to recognize our school system for its support of girls' athletics.
THE OTHER BIG STORY:
Kaltrina and Nita, our Rotary Exchange Students from Kosovo have their visas! They'll be here right away.

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM:
Diane McCleary will tell us about Meals on Wheels. This program keeps a lot of people out of nursing homes and other institutional living situations. The volunteers are getting pinched by the high cost of fuel.

LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM:
Adrian E. LaTrace, Vice President, Manufacturing of Acciona Energy North America, told us about his company and its activities around the world. Acciona is building a wind turbine assembly plant in West Branch. This is exciting news and is part of a change in the way America looks at energy.

Today's Rotary Moment Paul Harris chose to start law school in 1889 at the University of Iowa in Des Moines, where for the first year he read law at the University of Iowa and clerked for the law firm of St. John, Stevenson, and Whisenand in Des Moines. He then transferred to the Iowa City campus where he earned his law degree in June 1891. He had been a good, but not outstanding student saying years later that the greatest benefit he derived from his educational experiences was the contact he had with other students. He would call on those acquaintances time-and-time again later in his life as he sought to spread Rotary.
