In Case You Missed It

Our presentation on Monday was given by Paul Burback from MP&W.  Paul is an Energy Services Specialist and talked of several ways to save electricity by being more efficient with our power.   He also gave everyone new energy-efficient bulbs and coupons for two new fluorescent light bulbs per month when we bring in 2 old incandescent light bulbs.  Paul also talked about the various tests they will provide during an energy audit.

August 3rd Guests

  • Stephanie and Athena Strong were guests of Norm Smith.   Stephanie is also a Rotary Outbound Exchange Student traveling to France. Norm also told about Stephanie Strong - She is a student at MCC, working 2 jobs, with a straight "A" average.  She is manager of food services at Weed Park.  Her dream was to go to France and she found out about the Rotary program through the local Interact group.  She is looking forward to staying in the Paris region of France.
  • Gretchen Spies was a guest of Craig Bode and she is on an 8-week internship.

August 3rd Club Announcements

  • Norm Smith announced that a host family is needed for an incoming exchange student from France.  If you are interested please contact Norm.
  • Please remember to put a check next to your name when you come to Rotary for attendance tracking.  A sign in sheet will be located next to the badges on the front table.  Thank you!
  • August 17th is Rotary Night at Modern Woodman Park.  Please come at 7 p.m. to help raise funds for Polio Plus and enjoy a night at the ballpark.
  • Don't forget to about the partnership with the Muscatine Lions and Rotary to provide entertainment and a fundraising opportunity.  "Branson on the Road" will be in concert on Sunday, August 30th at 3 p.m. at Central Middle School Auditorium.  All proceeds from this concert will be used for community projects.  If Rotary sells 100 tickets we will receive 10% of the proceeds for our last portion of our commitment to the Bridge Tribute Project.  Tickets will be available at Rotary for multiple weeks.
  • The Song Leaders have been discussing via email this week how to "kick our singing up a notch".  If you have ideas, please share them with the song leaders.
  • Craig Bode needs you! Craig is the new chair for programs and he is looking for monthly program chairs, if you are interested please see him at the meeting or email him at craig.bode@rockvalleypt.com.
  • Rotary Family Picnic is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th at Weed Park's tennis court shelter at 6:00 PM.  We will be having a potluck again this year.  Please mark your calendars!

  • Scott Natvig - Excited to announce that his daughter Erin has given them their 1st grandchild.
  • Taura Prosek - Announced that she is now the Business Banking Officer at Central State Bank.
