Program for Today: Barb Fick Updates us on MCSA's Homeless Shelter

August 1 Invocation by: Holly Peterson

President Mike Ruby got us up and greeting one another again.. and in his Rotary moment mentioned that August is Membership Month... we are always inviting new members to join us... and in the Rotarian... the special insert was on Rotary basics... a great thing to share with potential members...

Mike also told us that Mike Hartman has resigned due to work commitments and scheduling.

Happy News: Jeff Armstrong told us how easy it is to access the Rotary website...Taura Prosek shared that her family is celebrating her 4 year olds' birthday..Jeff Miller is proud that Cole made the MAC first team for baseball.. Nathan Mather is happy to report that all survived the Mather family reunion last week in Seattle and Anna Mack is believing that in 6 weeks her son will have his law degree.

Program: Jeff Armstrong introduced Randy Hill, Matt Chandler and Mark Yerington to share a very informative power point presentation using MAGIC..(Muscatine Geographic Imaging Technology) to show how the sewer system is laid out, where repairs are needed and basically provides an underground map of the 195 mile system.

The sewer lines are cleaned or problem areas are located through the use of this system and by on board computers in the repair trucks. The June 1, 2007 tornado wreaked havoc with portions of Muscatine...using MAGIC...the city was able to go in and clean out the debris...tree limbs, roots etc. to prevent further future pipeline destruction.

In the near future various community committee members will also have access to this technology based system through the use of protected password access. Matt applauded the city staff for their caring attitude in taking care of our community residents and our sewer system.
