Presentation:
Lindsey Phillips- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine County
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) provides mentoring in three ways; school-based, community based of school based+. Why is mentoring so important? 1 in 3 youth do not have a positive role model in their lives. An adult role model can be the difference in a child’s life, encouraging them to future success. BBBS makes it easy to become a big to a kid in need. BBBS hosts match events and provide activity supplies to help grow positive relationships. Volunteers provide over 9000 volunteer hours. There is 59 youth waiting for their match. Following the pandemic, BBBS has struggled to connect with businesses in town in the same way they did before the shutdown. Many offices have not returned to the same in-office or community activities. If you know of a business or organization looking for volunteer opportunities, Lindsey would love to give them a presentation about the opportunities with BBBS.
