Happy News/Announcements:  Naomi DeWinter- Shared a Christmas card send to the club from Marv Krieger. Mike Ruby- Jan 7th Symphony Gala at the Merrill to celebrate 20 th Anniversary.  Tickets $100 Larry Hetzler has tickets. Final 2 weeks of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.  If you have 1-2 hours to staff a location call the Salvation Army, there is a scheduler waiting for your call. Mike also honored to serve of District 6000 nominating committee and excited to announce District Governor for 24/25 is Dave Cook from Rotary Club of Boone. Erika Cox- If you have not had a chance to check out the Bridge yet take and evening to enjoy the show programmed by Musco, tune your radio to 87.9 to enjoy! Scott Ingstad- 13 year old granddaughter played basketball for the Muskies.  Lindsey Phillips- Rotary volunteered for the 2 weeks of Love Freezing for Food Tuesday helping collect food donations.  Thank you Frank, Megan, Jim, and Lindsey for participating. Megan Francis- 4 Bars in town( Headquarters, The Brew, Proof Social and Bridgeside Links) participating in the first annual Senior Stuff the Stocking Challenge. Bar to collect the most items for the Senior Resources Christmas Basket Program will will the traveling stocking stuffer award.  Visit these establishments before Dec 19th and bring a donation.  Chamber Ambassadors will be out Caroling to local Chamber businesses this afternoon.  Puppy Update: 3 of the four foster puppies have loving homes and will be going with new owners Tuesdays.

Program:  Review of Board Chair positions and Committees and discussion of Club goals.
Membership: Naomi DeWinter
  • We have 65 members. 
  • This year we reinstated 2 members: Holly Peterson and Roger Lande.
  • We held 1 new member orientation
  • Followed up with members lost during Pandemic and full virtual meeting format.
  • Rotary Internation Goal- Grow Rotary Internationally by Each One/Bring One- we will continue our Each one Bring one membership drive through January.  Receive an entry into a raffle drawing for each prospective member you bring.
Fundraising: Megan Francis
  • Operation Warm Coats- We collected enough funds to purchase 2 boxes of coats that will be distributed here is Muscatine with the United Way Kids First Fund.  Our goal is 3 boxes only $58 from goal, will continue final collection at last meeting.
  • Coming in next 6 months: Super Bowl and March Madness Fundraising opportunity and working on another Guest Bartender evening.
Programs: Rob Yant
  • Looking for Speaker ideas for the next 6 month please give Rob any suggestions and contacts you have.
  • Looking to keep a variety of presentations.
Youth Services: Mike Wedell
  • Completed applications for an exchange student from Muscatine.  Almost had a candidate but was not able to put everything together.  Note: it can be a cost of $5k- $7k to pay for an exchange experience, so we may need to look for ways to support that experience for someone interested in the future. 
  • Still hoping to get an exchange student to come.
  • Coming Up- Scholarship applications.  We have a great committee to review applications.
  • Ryla looking to return in the Spring.
Service Projects: Frank Iliff-
  • Completed 4 service projects this past 6 months.
  • Thanksgiving in July- assisted collecting food from businesses, requesting food donations at HyVee and distributing food to Food Pantries.
  • Tree Planting: planted 20 trees as part of Branching Out grant.
  • Veteran’s Day Flag Planting Project at MCC 
  • Freezing for Food- Collected food and donations for the Salvation Army 2 Weeks of Love.
  • Looking to schedule a ramp for Rotary to install next spring.
Paul Harris: Mark Roberts
  • Paul Harris funds directly help Rotary initiative to eradicate Polio, provide clean water and help with education.
  • Your donations can be leveraged through Rotary to help these initiatives.
  • Note: 4th Quarter Des include an Annual Paul Harris donation if you would like to give back.
Finance Update: Lindsey Phillips
Happy News 2020/2021 years was just over $50 due mostly to the pandemic.
