We had our meeting on Zoom.

Recap from the January 4, 2021 Club Meeting:

Invocation:  Paul Fitzpatrick

Happy News/Announcements:  Lisa Werner is happy that she is going to be a Grandma!  Mike Ruby gave congratulations to Greg Bock for exceeding the $190,000 goal for the Red Kettle Campaign!  Naomi DeWinter let us know that the Community Foundation was on the from page of the paper for their new website that was lead by 3 MCC students - celebratemuscatine.org.

Program:  Dr. Manasi Nadkarni presented the rain water harvesting project for Pune Hillside, India - Rotary Global Grant that our club is contributing to.  The area is water deprived, its rainy season is June to September.  By harvesting the rain water, 2-3 crops can be grown a year, it also provides water for drinking, cleaning and irrigation for about 585 acres.   The area has a population of + 20,000 people.  The collection pond is over 100 acres, it has reduced accumulation due to silt build up.  The grant will help clean up the reservoir and make repairs to the dam.   Total cost is ~$60,000.  3 Rotary Clubs from the United States are contributing to the grant (our club included).  There are many Clubs in India participating as well.  The project is set to start in April and hopefully be completed by the start of the rainy season.  Dr. Manasi Nadkarni shared a video from Dr. Meena Barate about the area the water havesting will support.   Thank you

Reminders:  January 11 - our speaker will be Evren Sasmazer - Rotary Youth Exchange Student - Japan.  There will not be a meeting on January 18.

Have a great week!
