Recap from the June 3, 2019 club meeting
Visitors:  Shelly Sides was the guest of Greg Jenkins.  Margaret Stadtwald from the Voice was the guest of Mike Ruby. 
 
Happy News Erika Cox was happy that Jessica Wittman was in Germany representing Muscatine for Rotary, she is looking forward to Jess sharing her experiences.  Megan Francis let us know that Senior Resources is having a fundraiser community cookout this Saturday from 11 to 1.  Alan Ostergren went on a distillery tour in Louisville, KY last week and really enjoyed it.  Naomi DeWinter thanked our Rotary Scholarship students for coming and their guests, she wished them well on their exciting futures.  Sal LoBianco was happy his son, Tom, graduated from high school in the top 5% and will be attending Iowa State.  Jeremy Pickard was happy he had both a high school and college graduate in his family this year.  Shelly Sides let us know that we can sign up to be a block captain for the 4th of July parade and that the parade and fireworks are funded by GMCCI, donations are appreciated.  Share Orr announced for Mike Hagerty that the Pearl Pub Party will be this Saturday and there well be live music put on by the Jazz Ensemble.  Mike has tickets for sale.
 
Club Business:  Mike Ruby announced that Muscatine Rotary Club had the highest percentage of members that attended the district conference last year.  He presented the Muscatine Rotary Club with a traveling plaque.  Erika Cox will display proudly, as Erika was our President last year. 
 
Program:  Our program was Naomi DeWinter and Scott Ingstad recognizing our 5 Rotary Scholarship recipients. 
Allison Orr plans to attend MCC and major in Human Resource Management.  She was active in the Orchestra at MHS and puts other peoples needs before her own. 
Blain Long plans to attend MCC them move on to University of Iowa to major in Business Management.  Blain was the student manager for the varsity football team at MHS. 
Alex Klein plans to attend MCC and get a degree in Accounting.  Alex is active in Boy Scouts and is also an Eagle Scout.  He helps collect food for the Muscatine food pantry.  He says the best reward is seeing the satisfied smiles of people who have received food assistance from the boy scouts. 
Ody Orr  plans to attend the University of Iowa and major in both Music and Micro Biology.  He wants to help people fight diseases.  He learned a lot of leadership and team building skills through his years in music and also attending RYLA.  Ody is committed to serving others and is active with the United Way. 
Kailynn Avis plans on attending Kirkwood and then University of Iowa to receive her degree in Nursing.  She was active in Orchestra and loves classical music.  Her first goal is to receive her Bachelors degree in Nursing  and then become an OB Nurse.  She believes in serving others that have less than you.
