Recap of the April 1, 2019 Club Meeting: 
Visitor:  Roger Lande was the guest of Sarah Lande.
 
Happy News:  Frank Iliff attended the Rotary grant writing seminar in Newton, IA last weekend.  He enjoyed himself and learned a lot about Rotary.  Mike Ruby thanked Frank Iliff for taking the time to attend the seminar.  Jessica Wittman go to see Latin Thunder (a previous program at Rotary) last week and she had a lot of fun.  Naomi DeWinter congratulated Mike Hagerty for being recognized as GMCCI Volunteer of the Year. 
 
Club Business:  Shane Orr reminded us that autopay is available for dues if you would like, see Kim Warren.  Rick Gosney reported on March Madness  - the Final Four teams are owned by Rotarians - who is going to WIN?!  Melanie Alexander won the drawing for the Hancher tickets to see Whipped Cream this weekend. 
 
Program:   Our program was led by Lee Plummer - the Assistant Band Director at MHS.  The Jazz Ensemble performed their 'concert set' for us.  They perform in a lot of competitions throughout the year, playing multiple styles of music.  The students audition in the Fall to be picked for the ensemble - they practice 5 days a week.  April 2 they leave for Ames, IA to compete in the Iowa Jazz Championship.  They will be competing against the top 60 schools in the state of Iowa for the Championship.  We wish you the best of luck.  Thank you for the wonderful performance.
