Program:  Krista Regennitter  - ISU Extension Outreach
The goal of the ISU Extension Outreach is to create a strong Iowa.  Iowa State is the Land Grant University in Iowa due to the Merrill Act that was passed in 1862.  The purpose of the Act is to make higher education available to everyone, teach practical subjects, and for the University to share knowledge with the people throughout the state.  The Muscatine Extension office opened in 1913.  Each county in Iowa has its own ISU Extension Office with elected board of officials.  The core areas of the ISU Extension Office are as follows:  Ag and Natural Resources, Human Sciences, and Economic Development.   4-H is also through the ISU Extension Office.  4-H supports healthy living, STEM, Citizen Leadership, and Communication and the Arts.  4-H has clubs, camps, after school programs and events.  Because of many donations the ISU Extension Office will be moving to a new location at 1601 Plaza Place.  They hope to be open in September 2019.   (they are currently located on Isett Ave across from Heinz).  Thank you Krista.

There will not be a Rotary meeting on Monday, February 18 in observation of President's Day.

Next meeting will be February 25, 2019 at the Rendezvous.
