Recap of the February 4, 2019 Club Meeting: 
Guests:  Carolyn Airola, Jodi Hansen, Albert Liu and Roger Lande were the guests of Sarah Lande.  Lisa Werner was the guest of Jim Nepple.  Chris Anderson and Margaret Stadtwald from the Voice were guests of Mike Ruby. 
 
Happy News:  Scott Ingstad was happy Joe Wieskamp had an amazing game playing for the Hawkeyes last weekend.  Jessica Wittman is in the musical "Tommy" through the City Circle Theater in Coralville, IA.  Performances are February 15-17.  Paul Fitzpatrick was happy that his spinal surgery went well. 
 
Club Business:  Rick Gosney announced that no one had bought the winning squares for the Superbowl fundraiser.  Over $300 was raised and will go towards our community projects.  Shane Orr announced last chance to buy a raffle ticket for "Jersey Boys" at the Hancher.  Sal LoBianco won the tickets.  Shane let us know that there will be an opening on the Board of Directors for Rotary starting July 1st.  Let a Board member know if you are interested. 
 
Program:  Our program was about the Happy Chinese New Year Concert in Muscatine on February 14.  Sarah Lande let us know that there will be a Chime Bell performance and also Beijing Opera performance.  On the 14th the performers will have a rehearsal followed by the performance.  On the 15th the performers will be touring Muscatine.  Muscatine is the only place that they give FREE performances, this is due to Muscatine's relationship with China's President Xi Jinping.  Jodi Hansen from the Convention and Visitor's Bureau in Muscatine presented a video clip of both the Chime Bells and the Opera.  Albert Liu from Kent Corp.  provided us with history of the Opera and Chime Bells.  They are performing to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  February 4 was China's New Year's Eve.  The year of the Dog is ending and the year of the Pig is beginning.  Carolyn Airola, with the Muscatine Symphony, let us know that on Saturday, February 16 the Muscatine Symphony is putting on "Romance in the Air".  Dinner and Concert.  Tickets are available at Hy-Vee,  on the Symphony website, and at the door.  Thank you for the wonderful program.
