Program for March  19, 2018:  Stanley Museum of Art at the University of Iowa with Susan Horan
Invocation: Don Timmerman
Happy News:   Guests were our potential new members: Dana Miller and Steven Bradford. Rick Gosney explained the March Madness Fundraiser to the members and was on hand to complete the round forms. Bobbi Holliday encouraged members to think about planting trees at home or around that will help us complete our goal of planting one tree per member!! Shane Orr and Jessica Wittman both attended PETS or President Elect Training this past weekend.  Both learned a lot and shared their appreciation of the Rotary mission and Mike Ruby with the club!!  Jess liked the quote " Service is the rent you pay to live in this life!!"  Naomi De Winter is happy that the Merrill Hotel is opening this week. Mike Ruby was happy to attend PETS for the 9th or 10th time.  Bobbi Holliday is happy her sons made it safely to San Diego and that her bulbs are coming up!!

Program:  Mary Odell and Manasi Nadkarni provided an informative program on the India Water Project that we spearheaded.  Contributions were received from our  club, West Liberty, Tipton and Clinton along with a Rotary Club in Pingori, India.  In total with all the matching contributions this was well over a $100,000 project. In India this is now a model replicatable project that has brought much more than water to the area. It has brought economic life,  agricultural growth, trees and bees to the area.  With the new foilage such as trees new insect life is attracted to this area.  The products being produced are pesticide free and therefore of a high quality.  Youth are also returning to the area since it is becoming much more vibrant than  when it was an area without the Rotary built Water Wells.  The well done video applauded the work of the partners and gave thanks to Mary Odell and Manasi Nadkarni for their leadership in implementing this significant life change project for the Pingori region of India!!  A village has been transformed.... with water!!
