Program: We learned a lot about our local National Guard and their functions in the state and the world at large.  We are in 41 different countries as Iowa National Guard members!!  Local community members can rent the Armory for local functions.  The National Guard helps in domestic emergencies.  The National Guard helps with local events like the necessity of moving a bridge section!!

There have bee 18,000 Iowans deployed with the National Guard since 9/11. These Iowans have bee deployed in 35 countries including Iraq, Afganistan and Kosovo!  Annually there are 400-450,000 persons trained at Camp Dodge with some of the world's most sophisticated training equipment.  If you have not been to the Iowa Gold Star Museum it was highly recommended by the speaker. It is 18,000 square feet of information dedicated to anyone who has ever served our country.  It is also free!!

Joining the National Guard is an excellent way to get your education paid for. 100% of tuition is paid at the State Schools rates.  We are approaching the 100th anniversary of WW I and the 50th Anniversary of the Viet Nam War.  Both will be commemorated by the National Guard!
