Rotary News:  Andrew Anderson and Megan Johnson were present as new members.  Erika Cox asked us to consider persons we know at Monsanto, Musco, Heinz and the new MCC President as persons we should invite to become members.  Next week is the last week to bring school supplies!!  Friday night is the Rotary Social at Ardon Creek Winery with Run Boy Run!!
 
Happy News: Karen Diercks is happy that the Wine Walk was a successful fundraiser for the Symphony.
 
Program: Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren provided an informative program on the duties of the County Attorney's office and relevant statistics related to the office's work.  The main job is to prosecute criminal offenses for the 14th largest county in the State of Iowa. There are 2800 contested matters/yearly with 1100 simple demeanors such as  assaults, child delinquency and juvenile dependency cases. Alan was proud of the fine collection program that has been implemented handle the millions of dollars of fines that are not paid. The office has worked at removing a person's driver's license to be a carrot to pay back fines.   The office has collected $700,000 in fines and netted about $140,000.  There were several audience questions that were asked in regard to civil forfeiture, heroin use in Muscatine County and etc.
